There is no such thing as an ordinary life as ordinary people do extraordinary things
When it comes to the funeral of your loved one, everybody deserves a dignified service that reflects the truly wonderful and individual person they were. Although some may consider themselves to have lived ordinary lives, they were extraordinary in their own special and very special to those who loved them.
A funeral is a time to remember the person as they truly were; their character, their likes and dislikes, their beautiful imperfections, their little habits that drove us crazy but we will miss so much. It is a time to recall happy memories and significant events that shaped them into the person they became. It is also a time to say farewell in a style befitting the person they were.
I find learning about each individual fascinating; their character, their quirks, their loves and their passions. Everybody has lead an interesting life to me and their unique qualities are reflected in the service I deliver.
As a funeral celebrant, I can help you decide on the style of funeral you wish to have for your loved one. At a time of bereavement, we often need a lot of guidance or perhaps simply follow convention, but in this modern era a funeral can be tailored to your wishes. It need not follow a totally religious format or a pure humanist point of view.
Today many people do not attend church regularly or follow a recognised religion. However, many people do develop their own beliefs and spirituality that they show in their behaviour. This can be reflected in the service you request. Although some services do not have any religious content at all, many do include a spiritual element such as a poem, a short prayer, a hymn or a blessing in the final stages. An approach like this can also solve the problem of a loved one who had great faith but whose family did not necessarily share the same strong beliefs, or vice versa. However, should you require a completely humanist approach I can provide that too.
If you choose me to conduct the funeral of your loved one I will completely focus on the person, celebrate their life and take time to say goodbye.
I will listen to your wishes and write a service specifically dedicated to your loved one which will be sent to you for approval prior to the ceremony.
